How old do I need to be in order to apply for a License to Carry Firearms?

Applicants must be 21 years of age and reside in Northampton County.

How long will it take to process my application? How will I be notified when it has been approved or denied?

It may take up to 45 days to process your application. You will be notified in writing via United States mail when your application has been processed. If granted, your License to Carry Firearms will be included with the written response.

How do I change or update my address on my License to Carry Firearms?

You must first update your Pennsylvania Driver's License or Identification Card with your new address. You must bring the updated information to the department and present it in person. We will then update the address for your LTC and report the change to the Pennsylvania Stare Police. There is no charge for this service. If you wish to obtain a new LTC Identification Card with the updated address, you will have to appear at the County Revenue Office and pay a $10 fee. You will then need to bring that receipt to our department for a new card. If you have any question you may contact the LTC Division at 610-829-6595.

If my address is changed, do I need to get a new LTCF with the updated address?

No, but if you desire, you may obtain a new License to Carry Firearms with your new address for a $10.00 duplication fee.

For how long is my Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms valid?

Your License to carry Firearms is valid for a period of five [5] years from the date of issuance, unless otherwise revoked.

How do I renew my License to Carry Firearms?

A renewal reminder will be mailed to your home address within 60 days of the expiration date of your current License to Carry Firearms. In order to renew your License to Carry Firearms, you must complete an application and arrive in person with a valid Pennsylvania Driver License or Pennsylvania Identification Card at the Sheriff’s Department Office.

What do I do if my License to Carry Firearms is lost, stolen, or damaged?

Apply for a duplicate License to Carry Firearms by arriving in person at the Northampton County Sheriff’s Department Office with a valid Pennsylvania Driver License or valid Pennsylvania Identification Card. There will be a $10 duplication fee.
