Wayne A. Grube Park

Wayne A. Grube Park, dedicated in memory of the late Councilman Wayne A. Grube, offers 50 acres of developed parkland, including three picnic pavilions, a sand volleyball court, a playgrounds, a tricycle track, softball field, restrooms, walking trails and a trailhead to the Nor-Bath Trail. Another 150 acres are currently in agricultural lands and leased to a local farmer.

Amenities: ADA Accessible, trails, playground, picnic pavilions, softball field, sand volleyball court, multipurpose field, modern restrooms open April-October (portable toilets available October-April).

Historical Interest:

  • Named in honor of longtime County Councilman Wayne A. Grube.
  • Former property of the Allentown Farm State Hospital.
  • Stone remains of the historical Howertown Hotel along Willowbrook Road.

Environmental Features: Streamside woodlands, reforestation areas, agricultural fields, Catasauqua Creek, located in the Nor-Bath Trail Greenway.

Current Project: Extensive streamside forest planting along Catasauqua Creek in fall 2018.

Future Plans: Complete additional park development phases, develop and install interpretive signage about reforestation areas and streamside plantings.
