How do I use my Prescription Discount Card?
Once you have your card, you may use it to receive discounts at one of the 57,000 participating pharmacies. You may use the card as often as you wish on any generic, brand name, or 90-day supply mail order drugs NOT covered by insurance or another prescription discount plan. If you have exceeded the maximum amount allowed by your plan or if a prescribed medication is not included in your current plans formulary, you may use this prescription discount card to receive a discount. One card covers your entire family and must be presented each time you request a prescription to be filled or when you pay for a refilled prescription.
What medications are covered?
95% of all prescription drugs are covered, including birth control and ED drugs. Cardholders also can save on pet medications at participating retail pharmacies.
Can I use my card to get discounts on over-the-counter products and non-prescription medications?
Not usually. However, discounts are available for many diabetic supplies.
Can I use my prescription discount card with my current insurance benefit to reduce my costs?
Your card cannot be used in conjunction with other insurance. However, you may be able to use your card to purchase prescriptions that are not covered by these plans.
Can I still use my prescription discount card if I sign up for a Medicare prescription plan?
Yes, you can use your prescription discount card anytime you need to purchase a prescription that is not covered by your Medicare prescription plan or any other insurance.
What kind of savings can I expect?
The average discount nationwide is 23%. Savings may range from 13% to 34% depending on the medication. Cardholders are eligible for higher discounts, up to 50%, on a three-month supply of some medications through mail service. Consumers will always receive the lowest retail price. On occasion, pharmacies will price a particular medication lower than the discount rate available under this program. If that occurs, consumers will receive the lower price. Either way, consumers will always receive the best price available.
