Internship Program Overview
The Northampton County District Attorney’s Office offers a summer internship program for law students interested in learning more about the Pennsylvania criminal justice system.

The internship program is designed to allow interns to get a full understanding of what is involved in a criminal prosecution, from the investigation of a crime through the exhaustion of appellate rights. Interns will have the opportunity to work with and assist full-time prosecutors in a variety of areas, including performing legal research, writing legal memoranda, assisting in hearing and trial preparation, and attending court proceedings. If certified, interns may also have the opportunity to participate in court hearings under the supervision of an assistant district attorney.

The Office offers a full-time (40 hours a week) summer internship, which lasts ten to twelve weeks. Compensation is available.

The internship program is open to law students in good standing who have completed at least three semesters of law school. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to public service, an interest in criminal law, and an excellent academic record. Interns must be able to satisfy the eligibility requirements for Certified Legal Intern status pursuant to Pennsylvania Bar Admissions Rule 321.

To Apply
Applications will be accepted January 1st through April 30th. Interviews are scheduled and offers are made on a rolling basis.
