The Northampton County’s Prothonotary’s office is responsible for the recording and filing of civil legal papers.  Civil papers consist of:

  • Change of Name
  • Custody
  • Divorce
  • District Justice Appeals
  • Driver's License Suspension Appeals
  • Federal Income Tax Liens
  • Judgments
  • Mechanics Liens
  • Medical Malpractice
  • Mortgage Foreclosure
  • Personal Injury

     Divorce

    No Fault Divorce paperwork and instruction packets are available in the Courthouse Law Library located on the first floor near the Juror's Lounge or may be obtained from the following website: www.nccpa.org.

     Custody Action

    Paperwork for new Custody Actions may be obtained from the following website: www.nccpa.org/child-custody

    Paperwork for Modification or Contempt may be obtained from the following website: www.pacourts.us/forms.

    New, modification, and contempt custody paperwork needs to be filled out completely.  All custody orders must be signed in Motions Court by the Judge, prior to filing in the Prothonotary's Office.  Motions Court is Monday through Friday at 9 AM in courtroom 4.      Mortgage Foreclosure

    All mortgage foreclosure filings must adhere to the Northampton County Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Program.  Please visit the NCCPA website for the administrative order and forms.
