 What is the Role of the Northampton County General Purpose Authority?

The role of the Northampton County General Purpose Authority is to promote community and economic development through partnerships with businesses, organizations, local governments and individuals that will impact the economic vitality of Northampton County.  Strategies include, but are not limited to:

  • Encourage private investment in the County that contributes to increased/retained employment that helps to expand the local tax base through grants and loans.
  • Promote the revitalization of the business districts in the County's cities and boroughs.
  • Fund projects that improve the public infrastructure, recreation, workforce development, tourism, community services and the arts.
  • Support the development of sustainable communities and a local green economy.
  • Provide bond financing opportunities for business improvement, medical organizations and educational institution

PUBLIC NOTICE

Pursuant to Act No. 212, June 21, 1957, P. L. 393, Section 3, as amended, Public Notice of the Schedule of Regular Meetings of the Northampton County General Purpose Authority are hereby given for the Year 2017.  These meetings will be held every month at 8:15 AM to be held at the Northampton County Courthouse, 669 Washington Street, Easton, Pennsylvania. The Northampton County Higher Education Authority Meeting and the Northampton County Hospital Authority Meeting will be held immediately following the GPA Meeting.
